Brass in the Ballpark, is a two-week summer camp designed for aspiring Oklahoma musicians in grades 7–12 who are currently enrolled in band classes. The curriculum covers a range of enriching topics, including instrument fundamentals, improvisation, New Orleans-style jazz, brass band ensemble performance, and American music history—with a special emphasis on the contributions of local musicians.
Our goal is to make Brass in the Ballpark a golden opportunity for students to elevate their musical skills and professional mindset. This is a networking opportunity for students, where they can socialize outside of their school and grade level. Our hope is that they will be motivated to practice hard, in healthy competition and collaboration with their peers.
This camp provides students with real-world experience to start their own brass band. Camp graduates may also be invited to perform at community events between sessions as opportunities arise.
